House in Need of Mooring

My new collection is scheduled to be published by Press 53 in the Fall, 2022. More details later

I completed most of the poems in House in Need of Mooring during the pandemic year, hoping to explore optimistic ideas, so that in reading them people might find pleasure instead of sorrow in a year of so much sadness. At the same time, I wanted more complexity, deeper philosophical emotions, and ideas. These poems presented themselves to me; I sensed them somehow, but I wasn’t sure of what they were telling me. After many drafts, this eclectic mix resulted. I am hoping the reader finds amusement, love, and personal connections. Our houses may need mooring, our country may need to be righted, but there is joy in the morning.
